We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.This is a fill time (40) fixed term post for 12 months these hours will be worked Monday till Friday and on call rota.Funding for a Locum Paediatric Plastic Surgeon with interest in Paediatric Hand surgery has been made available to address Outpatient and inpatient waiting lists. It is envisaged that the short term monies (1 year) will be made substantive in due course to address changes in referral patterns and increased requirement for paediatric plastics surgery input at the Children's hospital. The primary purpose of this role is to address both out-patient and in- patient waiting list problems in the first instance. The applicant will therefore be expected to demonstrate training and experience in general paediatric plastic surgery.Experience in paediatric hand surgery is also expected, further experience in management of vascular malformations / laser work would be advantageous. The successful candidate would be based at Royal Hospital for children undertaking both out- patient clinics and also in-patient General and local anaesthetic cases. The successful applicant would work with the established 7 substantive consultants who currently undertake elective paediatric practice. They would also have a commitment to the overall on-call rota.
