
Healthcare Assistant - Complex

- Provide person centred, hands-on care for clients with neurological conditions such as traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, or progressive disorders (e.g. MS, MND)
- Support with daily living activities including personal hygiene, toileting, dressing, eating, and mobility
- Assist with clinical tasks such as:
- PEG feeding
- Tracheostomy care
- Ventilation and suctioning
- Bowel and bladder management (e.g. catheter care, bowel programs)
- Monitor and respond to changes in condition and report concerns promptly
- Support clients in maintaining routines, therapies, communication methods, and social activities
- Use specialist equipment safely (hoists, wheelchairs, standing frames, etc.)
- Maintain clear, accurate records in line with care plans and CQC regulatory standards
- Work closely with family members, therapists, nurses, and other health professionals
- Respect confidentiality, dignity, and choice at all times
- Promote emotional and mental well-being, especially where clients may experience cognitive or behavioural challenges
- Dressing and undressing / preparing the service user for Day Care, or trips out.
- Washing / bathing / showering / shaving / grooming / cleaning teeth.
- Hair care (washing / brushing).
- Toileting and all aspects of personal hygiene.
- Continence management.
- Care of pressure sores (under appropriate nursing supervision). Getting in and out of bed.
- Assisting with the use of Aids to Daily Living / Rehabilitation Aids, as required.
- Helping with rehabilitation programmes, as prescribed by Healthcare professionals.
- Day / evening / night sitting services, as advised.
- Utilising support, advice, and guidance from the Team Leaders and/or the qualified nurses within the organisation.
- Assisting the service users who live with long term conditions to meet their healthcare needs.
- Preparation of snacks and meals according to the service users likes / dislikes.
- Assisting with feeding, as required.
- General cleaning duties, to include cleaning / dusting / vacuuming / polishing.
- Bed-making.
- Clearing refuse and rubbish.
- Laundering / Hand-washing / Ironing / Light needlework, as required.
- Shopping, and the preparation of shopping lists and assistance with budgeting.
- Light gardening tasks (subject to previous agreement at the Care Plan stage).
- Dressing and undressing / preparing the service user for Day Care, or trips out.
- Washing / bathing / showering / shaving / grooming / cleaning teeth.
- Hair care (washing / brushing).
- Toileting and all aspects of personal hygiene.
- Continence management.
- Care of pressure sores (under appropriate nursing supervision). Getting in and out of bed.
