Be part of the family...We're a family business through and through - family owned, family run, with a warm family welcome for guests and team alike. Our seven hotels are unique (quirky even) and set in three stunning Scottish locations. Some are big, some are small but all offer good food & drink, great beds and a ton of things to do.Peebles HydroWe're set right at the heart of the Scottish Borders and offer a great place to relax, unwind and magically shut off from the pressures of modern life. We've been welcoming guests for well over 100 years but today is home to 132 bedrooms, 3 places to eat, 6 function spaces, leisure club, gin distillery, spa and oodles of outdoor space.About the roleYou'll make sure the hotel and facilities continue to meet the highest of standards. You'll speak to our guests every day, solving any little niggles they may have during their stay - always striving to exceed our guests' expectations. The role is physically demanding so you need to be fit and healthy to keep up! Dependent on your qualifications and experience you could be doing anything from installing a light fitting, testing our water supply, fixing a toilet, fitting fire doors, responding to guests maintenance requests in a timely manner, dealing with contractors, monitoring our biomass system and everything in between. The role is very varied and no two days are the same. What we need from you:
  • Maintenance Experience - experience of working in hotel maintenance would be an advantage
  • Able to use initiative - we are always solving problems and you need to be able to think on your feet
  • Experience in a trade - whether it be plumbing, electrics, joinery or painting and decorating. Knowledge and experience in one or more of these would be ideal
  • Team focus - we are a close and hardworking team so you need to be able to get on with your colleagues to help keep this a great place to work and a great place for our guests
  • Going the extra mile - we want our guests to have an amazing experience with us so being polite, helpful and going the extra mile goes a long way
  • Ideas and openness - we're up for doing things differently and will try (almost) everything once
  • Fun and easy to talk to - we're looking for personality, not a corporate clone
  • Flexibility - there's no problem you can't fix and you will be expected to work weekends when required
  • Health and safety awareness - we take the health and safety of our guests and staff very seriously so you need to have an understanding of good practice and be able to work within our policies. Asbestos awareness would also be an advantage.
  • Willing to learn new skills - the role is very varied so a willingness to learn new skills is important
What you'll get from us
  • The chance to work in a friendly, forward thinking company with investment as a priority.
  • Great benefits - including pension, and discounts on leisure membership, food and hotel stays
  • Live in accommodation may be available
  • Uniform - we'll provide full uniform
