Responsible for delivering high quality, individualized and technically excellent entertainment services for guests whilst complying with any Company Policies and towards a goal of achieving total guest satisfaction.Key Responsibilities
  • Creates an environment where guests will enjoy participating in scheduled events and parties such as Disco nights, with infinite amounts of energy.
  • Makes sound judgment of appropriate material and/or appropriate audible volume.
  • Ensures that equipment is maintained in a safe and clean working environment.
  • Works within prescribed parameters or event themes such as deck Parties, cocktail parties in regards to music selection, as scheduled by the ship's management and the entertainment department.
  • Maintains and organizes the music library.
  • Works with Charters and Groups to accommodate their requests.
  • Carries out all the set-ups, break-downs and clean-ups of equipment in public areas as directed by and with the assistance of the Sound & Light Manager.
  • Sets up for any lectures and special enrichment events (i.e. culinary demonstrations, guest lectures, bridge lectures, wine tastings, shore concierge port talks, special group events).
  • Assists the Sound & Light Manager with sound checks, spotlight checks and nightly shows.
  • Assists the Sound & Light Manager with rehearsals of shows of both on board artists and guest entertainers.
  • Assists the Sound & Light Manager with the setting up and clearing of band equipment.
  • Assists the Sound & Light Manager with setting up for guest karaoke nights.
  • During long cruises (ten days or longer), organizes and heads special DJ events and training classes, such as how to create a music library, how to optimize a music device, etc.
  • Proactively responds to issues or potential problems quickly and efficiently involving relevant people as required. Communicates any challenges, complaints or service difficulties to immediate supervisor. Keeping the Cruise Director promptly and fully informed of all problems and matters of significance.
  • Socializes with guests when in public rooms.
  • Assists with the induction and training of new crew.
  • Adjust schedule and location independently when the overall daily operation changes.
  • Incorporates Company service standards, personalized service and sincere hospitality by creating positive experiences for guests, efficiently engaging with guests and anticipating guest needs.
  • Performs all other duties as requested by supervisor.
Education/Experience/Qualifications:
  • Valid STCW95 certification.
  • Professional DJ background, with technical support experience.
  • Ability to read the crowd and be able to play music appropriate to the demographics and have the ability to entertain in a “show” environment.
  • Strong microphone skills.
  • Good Knowledge of sound and light equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of entertainment show formats and procedures.
  • Physically and medically fit.
  • Moral integrity is required.
  • Excellent fluent English (verbal and written). English is the working and safety language on board Silversea vessels. This also includes the ability to give and receive instructions in verbal and written forms and to effectively and efficiently engage with guests and crew members. Conversational in one additional language (German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese).
  • Basic knowledge of Windows & Mac applications.
