Location: SouthamptonPosition Overview:Supply Desk is proud to be working with a successful secondary school near central Southampton to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic Religious Education (RE) Teacher. The role begins in September 2025 on a long-term basis through December 2025, with the strong possibility of becoming permanent.This is a fantastic opportunity to teach RE across Key Stages 3 and 4 within a collaborative Humanities department. For the right candidate, there is also the exciting prospect of progressing to Head of Department. The position is open to both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced educators, and the school is also willing to consider unqualified teachers with relevant secondary RE experience.Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive RE lessons that inspire curiosity and respect for diverse beliefs and cultures.
- Monitor, assess and support student progress, providing constructive feedback.
- Contribute to departmental curriculum planning and whole-school initiatives.
- Promote a positive, respectful classroom environment with high expectations for behaviour and achievement.
- Play an active role in the wider school community, including extracurricular activities.
- A mixed 11–16 secondary school located close to Southampton city centre.
- Rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted (2022), with a strong ethos and inclusive values.
- Supportive Senior Leadership Team committed to professional development.
- Excellent public transport links and modern facilities.
- A degree in Religious Studies or a related subject (essential).
- QTS or equivalent recognised teaching qualification (preferred).
- Experience teaching RE at KS3 and KS4.
