We are working alongside a leading Tier 1 Main Contractor, delivering high-profile construction projects across various sectors. As they continue to expand operations, they are searching for a Senior Estimator to join the team based in the North West.Role Overview: As a Senior Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in our pre-construction team, responsible for accurately estimating the costs of construction projects and providing valuable insights to support decision-making processes. You will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to develop competitive bids and deliver successful projects on time and within budget.Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct detailed analysis of project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to understand project requirements thoroughly.
  • Utilise industry-leading estimating software and methodologies to prepare accurate cost estimates for labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure competitiveness and compliance with project requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive bid proposals, including cost breakdowns, schedules, and risk assessments.
  • Participate in bid strategy meetings, providing valuable insights and recommendations to enhance competitiveness and maximise project profitability.
  • Stay abreast of market trends, material costs, and labour rates to ensure the accuracy and competitiveness of cost estimates.
  • Support the procurement process by negotiating favourable terms with subcontractors and suppliers, while maintaining strong working relationships.
  • Provide ongoing support to project teams during the construction phase, assisting with value engineering, cost tracking, and change management as required.
  • Mentor and support junior estimators, providing guidance and sharing best practices to foster professional development and team cohesion.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Experience in construction estimating, preferably with a Tier 1 Main Contractor.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering accurate cost estimates for large-scale construction projects
  • Strong proficiency in estimating software such as ConQuest, Causeway, or similar platforms.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex project requirements.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional accreditation such as MRICS or MCIOB is desirable but not essential.
