- Conduct detailed analysis of project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to understand project requirements thoroughly.
- Utilise industry-leading estimating software and methodologies to prepare accurate cost estimates for labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure competitiveness and compliance with project requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive bid proposals, including cost breakdowns, schedules, and risk assessments.
- Participate in bid strategy meetings, providing valuable insights and recommendations to enhance competitiveness and maximise project profitability.
- Stay abreast of market trends, material costs, and labour rates to ensure the accuracy and competitiveness of cost estimates.
- Support the procurement process by negotiating favourable terms with subcontractors and suppliers, while maintaining strong working relationships.
- Provide ongoing support to project teams during the construction phase, assisting with value engineering, cost tracking, and change management as required.
- Mentor and support junior estimators, providing guidance and sharing best practices to foster professional development and team cohesion.
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
- Experience in construction estimating, preferably with a Tier 1 Main Contractor.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering accurate cost estimates for large-scale construction projects
- Strong proficiency in estimating software such as ConQuest, Causeway, or similar platforms.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex project requirements.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional accreditation such as MRICS or MCIOB is desirable but not essential.
