Children’s Social Worker – Duty & Assessment Service
Full-Time | Office Based | ManchesterManchester City Council is seeking an experienced Children’s Social Worker to join the Duty & Assessment Service. This is a frontline role requiring confidence, resilience, and the ability to hit the ground running in a fast-paced environment.Role Overview:
You will be responsible for:
- Undertaking statutory assessments for children and families referred to the service
- Carrying out Section 47 enquiries and Child & Family Assessments
- Working with families through Child in Need, Child Protection, and Care Proceedings
- Analysing risk, identifying safeguarding concerns, and making clear recommendations
- Working collaboratively with partner agencies to improve outcomes for children
- Ensuring timely, high-quality recording and evidence-based practice
- Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
- Proven experience in Duty & Assessment or frontline safeguarding services
- Ability to manage a busy caseload and make effective decisions under pressure
- Strong risk assessment, planning, and intervention skills
- Commitment to improving outcomes for children and families
- Full-time, 5 days per week
- Fully office-based
- Initial 3-month contract (with potential to extend)
- Competitive pay up to £35 per hour
