Our engineers have a vast wealth of knowledge and experience to help you grow both technically and personally during your year-long internship.This internship gives you the opportunity to work on most of the Airbus wings, from major developments on well-established aircraft (A320 and A350) to new product developments for the wing of the future. In addition to structural engineering activities, a wide range of other projects and opportunities are available to help you grow your technical and professional skills. ‘Gen-A’ (Generation Airbus) also provides the opportunity to grow your network with other Early Careers members and find additional opportunities during your internship.What you will be doing:You will interact with different teams and be mentored by a wide range of engineers with various backgrounds while working on meaningful projects. The main tasks and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:Design of composite and metallic wing structures across various Airbus programmes;Create design schemes, frontier and interfaces drawings and data for manufacture (component drawings);Assessing design solutions within the time, cost and quality parameters and ensuring the structural design meets programme airworthiness and product requirements;Define, deliver and enable technical studies, trades and investigations to ensure the delivery of technical solutions in accordance with relevant design methods and procedures;Provide direct engineering support to the production line to ensure minimal disruption to the wing build;Utilising strong stakeholder management skills across a wide range of stakeholders;Propose and develop innovative projects to improve the production environment;Communicating your engineering tasks to mentors and more senior engineers;You will be required to define Personal Development Goals and work towards them as part of your daily activities.This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as this is the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.Requirements:Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.*Your application should include a CV along with a Cover Letter outlining your motivation and suitability for the role.*Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:Studying towards a degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent;Some knowledge of overall aircraft structural design principles and techniques;Good problem-solving skills and a can-do attitude;Not afraid to propose new ideas to solve problems;Motivation to be self-driven and resilient with the ability to work autonomously;Able to deliver whilst also embracing change, and challenge where appropriate;Knowledge of CAD and PDM systems would be beneficial;The ability to listen, understand and communicate information clearly to your team and stakeholders;An innovative mindset and apply free thinking with a degree of curiosity to explore new ideas.We are looking for candidates with the following skills and competences:Willingness to learn how to propose solutions and solve problems;Willingness to learn basic metallic and composite structures;Willingness to learn design toolsets;Preferably experience in developing IT solutions associated with engineering activities;Support team to analyse, propose and solve technical problems;Ensure delivery of own tasks whilst adhering to time, cost and quality parameters;Good communication skills and a drive to deliver customer value and quality.SECURITY CLEARANCE: You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check.
