Shift Operations LeadEdinburghPermanentEarlies & Backs rotationNine Twenty Engineering & Manufacturing are proud to be working in partnership with a leading FMCG manufacturing client in Edinburgh, who are on the look out for a Shift Operations Lead to support their ambitious growth and operational excellence goals.This is a key leadership role, ideal for someone with a strong background in operations, team development, and continuous improvement within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Purpose of the Role:As Shift Operations Leader, you’ll be responsible for delivering operational excellence through safety, quality, performance, and people leadership. You’ll lead your team in driving improvement, supporting the site’s strategic goals, and creating a positive, high-performing culture.Key Responsibilities:You’ll have full accountability for:
  • Executing and embedding safety systems to improve wellbeing and deliver KPIs
  • Leading the team to maximise plant performance and customer service delivery
  • Driving quality improvements to eliminate repeat issues
  • Delivering against financial budgets and KPIs (waste, efficiency, TOS, machine uptime)
  • Partnering cross-functionally, particularly with engineering, to hit production targets
  • Coaching and motivating your team to own decisions and take accountability
  • Leading and embedding a culture of continuous improvement using CI tools and Lean methodology
  • Supporting and developing team performance through regular performance reviews and recognition
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Degree qualified (or equivalent relevant experience)
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within FMCG manufacturing
  • Strong track record of delivering performance improvement & change management
  • Excellent working knowledge of CI tools such as SMED, DMAIC, 5S, AM
  • Experience of developing high-performing teams
  • Ability to influence culture and drive engagement
  • Comfortable working in a unionised environment
