Hours: 25 hours a week (part time) term time only
Pay: £17-£19 per hourWe are seeking a compassionate, patient, and creative 1.1 Mentor to support a 11-year-old autistic child with ASD, SEMH needs. This is is a unique and rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a child's life by creating a positive, playful, and responsive learning environment. You will be working two-to-one with the young person, primarily within a home and school as well based in Shepherds Bush and West London.1.1 Mentor Role:Based in Shepherds Bush in a non-school setting for some of the time, this part time 1.1 Mentor role will involve assisting the lead tutor and teachers in delivering the bespoke curriculum that will be delivered to the student. It will be essential to ensure the 1.1 Mentor has strong behaviour management skills. This student is attending a mainstream school and will have extra support whilst in school from a 1.1 Mentor and a tutor.1.1 Mentor Key Responsibilities:
  • Willingness to be flexible, this tuition may take place in school sometimes or in the home
Work with the lead tutor to assist in delivering a bespoke curriculum based on positive strategies and low arousal techniquesBuild trust and emotional safety by attuning to the YP's pace and preferencesUse playful, non-directive methods to support learning and engagementRespect and support the YP's independence while remaining available to step in before overwhelmIdentify and anticipate sensory and emotional triggersEncourage initiation, allow time for processing, and offer flexible choicesPromote emotional regulation through calm and consistent presenceBe willing to accompany the YP to safe and familiar places that support well being and learning * Participate in 2 hours of a chosen weekly physical activityEssential Qualities:Experience working with autistic children or children with complex SEN * Experience working with students with SEMH is desired but not essentialComfortable using indirect language and creative teaching approachesFlexibilityReeson Education:Reeson Education is England's Premier Recruitment Agency.
