We are currently working with a Local Authority in the South West who are looking to recruit an Assistant Payroll Manager who will support the delivery of high quality, efficient and cost-effective payroll and pensions administration servicesJob: Assistant Payroll ManagerDuration: 3-6 monthsRate: £26.87 per hour via Umbrella Company, Inside IR35Site presence: Hybrid – weekly attendance requiredResponsibilitiesDeputise for the Payroll and Pensions Service ManagerEnsure provision of an effective, efficient, accurate and timely payroll and pensions serviceProvide technical support to the BSC Systems Team in relation to payroll activitiesProvide operational, technical and strategic support and leadership to the Payroll and Pensions Manager and Payroll Team Managers respectively to support the delivery of transactional payroll services for the AuthorityLead on the development and introduction of new and changes to payroll services on behalf of payrollTo work with Team Managers and others in the BSC to develop and streamline payroll systems and processes used, liaise with key stakeholders to keep services customer focused, efficient, accurate and effective.Carry our 1:2:1s and appraisals that direct & focus staff on key operational prioritiesExperience/RequirementExperience of leading payroll teams in a performance culture to achieve measurable outcomes.Thorough knowledge of payroll legislation and practices, covering up to gross and gross to net proceduresExperience of using ERP systems to deliver payroll serviceKnowledge of HMRC and pensions payroll requirementsExperience of managing and coaching teams to meet the requirements of stakeholders and manage interfaces with those stakeholdersExperience of working within the public sector is desirable but not essentialAt Venn Group, we endeavour to respond to all applications.
