๐Ÿ’ฐ Competitive Salary + BenefitsAbout the Role A well-established building services contractor based in Bridgend is looking to hire a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing team.
You will be instrumental in leading electrical design and installation coordination on a wide range of commercial, residential, education, and healthcare projects. This is a hands-on role requiring close collaboration with project managers, site teams, and clients to ensure smooth delivery from design through to installation and commissioning.Key Responsibilities
  • Lead electrical design development tailored to contractor project delivery, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, data/communications, and security systems
  • Prepare and review technical drawings, design calculations, and installation specifications to support site teams
  • Liaise directly with site engineers, project managers, and subcontractors to resolve design and installation issues on site
  • Ensure compliance with UK wiring regulations (BS 7671), building regulations, and health & safety standards
  • Manage project timelines and communicate progress effectively with clients and internal teams
  • Support tendering and value engineering exercises by providing technical input
  • Mentor junior electrical engineers and provide technical guidance
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery and resolve clashes
  • Conduct site visits to verify design implementation and troubleshoot issues
Candidate Requirements
  • Degree qualified in Electrical or Building Services Engineering (BEng, MEng, or equivalent)
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership (CIBSE, IET, or equivalent)
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in electrical design within a building services contracting environment or contractor-focused consultancy
  • Practical understanding of electrical installation processes and site coordination
  • Strong knowledge of BS 7671, UK building regulations, and CDM regulations
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical design software (Amtech, Dialux, or similar)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with site teams and clients
  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple projects
  • Proactive problem solver with a hands-on approach
