This rewarding role is perfect for someone who thrives in a supportive, structured environment and is committed to helping pupils overcome barriers to learning caused by social, emotional, or mental health difficulties.Role Overview:This is a fantastic opportunity to work with students in Key Stages 3 and 4 who require tailored emotional and behavioural support. As a Secondary SEMH TA, you will foster positive relationships, promote emotional well-being, and play an active role in helping students build the confidence they need to succeed in and out of the classroom.Job Responsibilities:
- Deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions focused on emotional regulation, resilience, and engagement.
- Provide classroom support to ensure accessibility of learning for students with SEMH needs.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students, offering a safe and supportive presence.
- Implement and monitor behaviour support plans in collaboration with teachers and the SENCO.
- Support with managing challenging behaviours in a calm and consistent manner.
- Act as a role model by demonstrating positive behaviour and emotional intelligence.
- Maintain regular communication with staff, parents, and outside agencies when required.
- Experience working with secondary-aged students with SEMH or behavioural difficulties is required.
- Familiarity with behaviour management strategies and trauma-informed practice.
- A patient, empathetic, and reflective approach to building trust and managing behaviour.
- Relevant qualifications in Childcare, Education, Youth Work, Psychology or similar are advantageous.
- Team Teach or de-escalation training is highly desirable (training can be arranged).
- Strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and promoting positive outcomes for young people.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
