Main Duties:
  • Function as an independent speech and language therapist within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Evaluate how an individual's communication affects their daily life and provide suitable interventions.
  • Collaborate with the individual and their social network to address and resolve communication barriers.
  • Conduct communication assessments and develop management and rehabilitation plans, consulting with specialists as needed.
  • Deliver training to staff and the social networks of service users.
  • Play a key role in the development and enhancement of services and organisational practices.
Requirements of the Senior Specialist Speech and Language Therapist:
  • Possess a Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Hold current registration with the HCPC.
  • Have completed Dysphagia Competencies.
  • Demonstrate specialist knowledge of speech and language therapy models and interventions in acquired brain injury (ABI), including social communication, cognitive communication, and communication partner training.
  • Capable of managing complex dysphagia cases within an adult neurology caseload.
