To mitigate delivery and knowledge risks, our client is looking for a software developer, to work as part of a technical solutions team to focus on documenting technical process. You would be comfortable as a software developer working on elements of a role that involved technical writing.You would have a strong software engineering / development background, and the ability to work on technical documentation. This role requires a developer mindset and the ability to "join the dots" between complex systems.Role OverviewCollaborate closely with the existing lead developer to understand and document the current end-to-end tech stack and workflowsProduce detailed, developer-level technical documentation that can be handed off internally or to future hiresMap out the full process behind code delivery to embedded hardware and screen-based devicesEnsure no single points of failure remain from a knowledge retention perspectiveInitial focus on documentation, but software development as the role evolves.Key RequirementsProven background as a software engineer or developerStrong, demonstrable experience in technical writing and documentation for engineering processesComfortable working independently to investigate and document systemsFamiliarity with relevant technologies: C#, Node.js, Python, GitHubAble to be on-site for all working days (location Central London, near to Oxford Circus)Able to start within 2 weeksHappy to commit full-time (5 days/week) - potential for fractional ramp-upContract Details3-month contract to start, with strong potential for extensionOutside IR35 - client has a compliant process in placeSingle-stage interview via TeamsIf you're a technically-minded writer with a strong development background or a developer with a great ability to document tech processes, who loves unpicking systems and making them clear for others - this is an urgent and rewarding role to jump into.
