- Author, assess, maintain, and manage nuclear infrastructure design substantiation documents.
- Prepare and manage design changes/concessions.
- Present design substantiations to internal nuclear safety committees.
- Develop EIMT schedules, operating procedures, and associated reports to satisfy design and safety case requirements.
- Produce and review Periodic Review of Safety reports.
- Advise internal and external stakeholders on civil/structural engineering matters.
- Develop scopes for Independent Technical Assessment (ITA) and Independent Peer Review (IPR).
- Apply both general and specialist engineering methods in nuclear/high-risk environments.
- Produce technical justifications for civil/structural design modifications in high hazard industries.
- Review technical reports and safety case submissions from contractors.
- Check and verify calculations and technical documents prepared by others.
- 5+ years’ experience in design assessment of reinforced concrete and steelwork structures under dynamic loads (earthquake, blast, wind, rain, snow).
- Experience with reinforced concrete structures and jetties.
- Proven ability to justify civil/structural design modifications in high hazard industries.
- Capability to design, construct, operate, and decommission engineering systems in nuclear/high-risk environments.
- Knowledge of British Standards, Eurocodes, and relevant design codes.
- Experience within a nuclear or similar high hazard environment.
- Familiarity with safety case development (HAZID, HAZOP).
- UK nuclear industry experience (energy or defence), particularly safety-related structures, systems, and components.
- Knowledge of UK/US nuclear industry regulations and nuclear-specific codes and standards.
- Minimum HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
- Incorporated Engineer status (or equivalent experience).
- For non-nuclear candidates: completion of a Nuclear Introductory Course within 6 months of joining.
- Engineering degree.
- Chartered Engineer status.
