We are currently seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer to join their expanding Scottish transport division, playing a key technical and leadership role across major highways and bridge engineering projects.This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced bridge or structural engineer ready to step up into a project leadership role while mentoring junior staff and helping drive technical excellence across design hubs throughout Scotland.Key Responsibilities – Senior Bridge Engineer
- Take the technical lead on structural and bridge design schemes from feasibility through to delivery
- Support and mentor junior engineers and technicians within a collaborative team environment
- Oversee design calculations, drawings, specifications and deliverables in compliance with industry standards
- Liaise with clients, suppliers and stakeholders, representing the project at meetings and inspections
- Contribute to bids, tender submissions and work-winning initiatives across the team
- Lead small project teams and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of design packages
- Promote best practice in health, safety and risk management within your design team
- Deliver innovative and cost-effective structural solutions across bridges, culverts and highway assets
- Ensure technical quality and consistency across multiple concurrent projects
- Strong experience in structural or bridge design within highways or transport infrastructure
- Ability to lead and check designs across steel, concrete and composite structures
- Familiarity with LUSAS, Autodesk Structural Bridge Design and other relevant analysis software
- Sound understanding of CDM Regulations, risk assessments and safety in design principles
- Comfortable working across multiple project stages – from tender to final delivery
- Demonstrated experience managing smaller technical teams and mentoring junior staff
- Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management experience
- Incorporated or Chartered Engineer (ICE/IStructE) preferred – or actively working towards it
- Degree-qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (or demonstrable equivalent learning)
