Land Property Surveyor Job descriptionAre you passionate about land and property surveying? Do you want to make a real impact in your local community? East Riding of Yorkshire Council is looking for a skilled and motivated Land/Property Surveyor to join our Asset Strategy team.In this varied and rewarding role, you will be responsible for delivering accurate and up-to-date land and property surveys, drawings using latest technology. You' will support the development of asset management and investment plans, keeping the property portfolio up to date and relevant, in order to maximise value to the Council and the local community.You will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of land and property data, supporting strategic decision-making across the council.Your work will involve using the latest technology to optimise land and property data collection, contributing to the effective asset management of council property.What You will Be Doing
  • Using the latest land survey equipment to maintain accurate property records and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Undertake regular inspections, reviews and surveys to identify estate management issues and implement appropriate actions.
  • Conduct topographical surveys of land and measured buildings surveys and 3D scans of council buildings.
  • Provide detailed plans and drawings for a range of council services, including Right to Buy, lease management, encroachment, enforcement and compulsory purchase.
  • Investigate boundary disputes and support acquisitions and disposals.
  • Maintain and update the graphical elements of the Corporate Property Information System.
  • Support small-scale projects and collaborate on larger initiatives with senior colleagues.
  • Calculations of school pupil capacity - Enhanced DBS check required.
What We are Looking ForEssential:
  • HNC or HND or Foundation Degree in land surveying or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of land and building surveying, including AutoCAD, REVIT, ArcGIS, and 3D scanning equipment.
  • Strong understanding of property management, land ownership, and boundary issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines across multiple projects.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to work on-site at short notice in varying conditions.
Desirable:
  • Professional membership (e.g. RICS) or 5+ years post-qualification experience.
  • Experience working in a local authority environment.
  • Familiarity with the geography of the East Riding.
  • Experience of using AutoCAD, REVIT or ArcGIS.
