Are you passionate about making a difference for students who are struggling with anxiety, trauma, or social and emotional needs?Protocol Education is working in partnership with a specialist school in Northumberland that supports children and young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. We’re looking for a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Support Worker to join their team and play a key role in promoting wellbeing and resilience.Your Responsibilities:Work with pupils on a one-to-one or small group basis to provide emotional and mental health supportHelp students develop strategies for managing anxiety, low mood, anger, and emotional regulationSupport with the implementation of behaviour and wellbeing plansCollaborate with teachers, SEN staff, and external agencies to build a consistent support networkPromote a calm, safe, and nurturing environment for students to thriveThe Ideal Candidate Will Have:Experience supporting children or young people with mental health or emotional needs (education, youth work, residential care, or counselling backgrounds are all relevant)A trauma-informed and person-centred approachStrong communication and active listening skillsConfidence in handling challenging behaviour with calm professionalismKnowledge of safeguarding and mental health frameworks in educationWe Offer:Weekly pay through PAYE – no umbrella companiesAccess to specialist training including safeguarding, mental health first aid, and de-escalation strategiesA dedicated consultant who understands SEMH settings and will support you throughout your placementOpportunities for long-term work and potential permanent rolesIf you’re ready to support the mental health of vulnerable young people in Northumberland, apply now or get in
