HSBC Asset Management fulfils its purpose of connecting HSBC’s clients with investment opportunities around the world through an international network of offices in approximately 30 countries, delivering global capabilities with local market insight.We have an opportunity for a Co-Head, Quantitative Equity Strategies.Within HSBC Global Asset Management, the Quantitative Equity team manages around USD40bn of assets. The role consists in co-leading the research and development program of the team, managing a set of quantitative strategies implemented in various portfolios and supporting the business development in conjunction with sales and teams and product specialists. The Quant Equity team is a business unit as opposed to a service center where the primary goal is to grow the assets.In this role you will:
  • Drive the direction of research and innovation for the quant equity activity to ensure the relevance of the research effort and the intellectual standard.
  • Ensure the quantitative strategies have a strong business potential and are thoughtfully implemented and reflected in the Equity investment portfolios so that the appropriate level of revenue generation is achieved.
  • Proactively manage the team to ensure success of the research and development projects and that the subsequent quant models are thoughtfully applied by quant strategists for the relevant investment portfolios. Also you will encourage intellectual curiosity across research analysts and quant strategists.
  • Ensure effective collaboration with other teams (Passive PMs, technology developers, products specialists, sales teams) across the business as well as be a recognised point of contact for investors clients.
  • Consistently display the behaviours that form part of HSBC Values and culture and adhere to HSBC risk policies and procedures to maintain the credible reputation of yourself, the team and HSBC as a whole.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
  • Director level experience and significant knowledge in quantitative research, quantitative development, modelling and systematic investment principles is essential.
  • Possess a high commercial acumen with experience of generating revenue through designing Equity investment strategies or portfolio management is essential
  • Highly developed stakeholder and leadership management skills that give you the ability to be view as a ‘Trusted partner’ across a wide audience which would include internal teams and external Investor clients is essential.
  • Possess excellent time management, planning and organisational skills and adept in managing tasks with conflicting priorities is essential.
  • Highly qualified educationally (Masters, PHD or equivalent) within a quantitative led subject such as computer science, mathematics or engineering or economics is essential.
