- MB BS (or equivalent)
- Registered with GMC
- On the specialist register, or within 6 months of acquiring CCT
- Must have completed intermediate or Step 1 training in ICM or equivalent and eligible for Associate Fellowship FICM
- FRCA or equivalent, or a second registered specialty to complement the trusts requirements
- CCT in ICM as described by the Faculty of intensive care medicine (or evidence of equivalent levels of experience/training)
- FFICM examination or other higher professional qualification
- ALS/APLS/ATLS or NLS provider or instructor
- An understanding of general principles, scientific method and interpretation of literature
- Evidence of personal research projects and their presentation
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Understand the principles of audit
- Evidence of participation and completion of audit projects particularly relating to ICU
- Completed the audit loop in a number of audits
- Evidence of good communication skills
- To have undertaken a postgraduate communication skills course
- Evidence of organisational ability
- Attended a National Health Service Management Course appropriate to Consultant duties
- Clear, concise and well presented CV
- An interest in teaching and education
- Driving Licence
