Internal communications specialist to support multiple internal communications leads across the organization. Reporting to the Manager, Internal Communications, this role will independently manage communications strategies for defined initiatives—often recurring, well-scoped, or business-as-usual in nature—and contribute to broader communications efforts across divisions, functions, or enterprise-wide programs.This position plays a vital role in ensuring communications are timely, consistent, and well-executed. It also helps create capacity for communications leads by owning key components of communication planning, content development, and process management.Key ResponsibilitiesCommunication Strategy, Planning, & Project Management (60%)
- Develop and deliver internal communication strategies that support divisional, functional, or enterprise-wise needs, working independently or in partnership with communications leads.
- Own communications planning and execution for projects with established scope and cadence (e.g., recurring program updates, initiative launches, or employee engagement efforts).
- Support communications leads by managing foundational components such as editorial calendars, message development, coordination of reviews, and distribution logistics.
- Partner with project managers, initiative owners, and/or other stakeholders to advise on effective communication approaches, define deliverables, and agree to project timelines.
- Build and maintain healthy partnerships with key internal stakeholders, colleagues, and clients.
- Attend project or initiative meetings to understand the scope and context needed to advise on internal communications best practices.
- Responsible for ensuring plans and deliverables adhere to guidelines and processes for internal communications.
- Leverage available communication channels (e.g., email, intranet, town hall meetings) and contribute to channel strategy by assessing effectiveness and recommending adjustments.
- Effectively use audience mapping strategies to define accurate distribution lists.
- Measure engagement and outcomes to inform continuous improvement of communications.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications or marketing
- 3+ years of experience in internal or corporate communications or related roles.
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills with strong attention to detail.
- Experience with shifting tone and messaging techniques based on the message owner and target audience.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and move work forward independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative, resourceful, and takes a solutions-oriented approach.
- Experience in a large, matrixed organization or regulated industry is a plus.
