At Altrad, we transform our nation’s critical infrastructure to operate safely and sustainably.With over 11,000 talented people, we provide the full spectrum of critical engineering and construction services for industries both onshore and offshore.Role Details:The Yard Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day production of compliant materials within the scaffold yard, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant refurbishment, storage, and handling of scaffolding materials. The role focuses on meeting production targets to support operational demand, improving productivity, ensuring workforce safety, maintaining quality standards, and delivering ongoing training and development for yard personnel.Key Responsibilites:Operational Performance & Production
  • Plan and coordinate daily yard operations to meet project schedules and distribution targets.
  • Monitor material throughput, to achieve targets for loading/unloading, and dispatch operations to ensure efficiency and timeliness.
  • Allocate resources and supervise staff to allow a smooth flow of scaffold materials in and out of the facility.
  • Liaise with internal planning, transport, and depot teams to align production with operational requirements.
Productivity & Continuous Improvement
  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including throughput, downtime, and labour efficiency.
  • Identify and implement initiatives to improve productivity, reduce delays, and optimize workflows.
  • Promote lean practices and support the implementation of digital or physical improvements in depot layout and operations.
Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Drive a culture of safety awareness through toolbox talks, training, and active supervision.
  • Ensure all lifting operations, forklift movements, and material stacking meet compliance standards.
Training & Staff Development
  • Supervise, train, and mentor scaffold yard operatives and forklift drivers.
  • Conduct onboarding and refresher training on yard procedures, PPE, equipment use, and safety protocols.
  • Support succession planning and upskilling within the yard team.
Quality Control
  • Oversee quality inspections of scaffold components to ensure they meet serviceability and cleanliness standards.
  • Ensure proper segregation, tagging, and recording of damaged or defective materials.
  • Maintain accurate inventory control in collaboration with the asset management team.
Administration & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records of yard activities, stock movements, incidents, and performance.
  • Assist in audits, compliance checks, and operational reviews.
  • Support stocktakes and reconciliation of scaffold materials.
Key Requirements:
  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within a scaffold yard, construction depot, or distribution facility.
  • Strong knowledge of scaffolding components, loading/unloading practices, and yard logistics.
  • Understanding of HSE legislation, risk assessments, and compliance protocols.
  • Ability to manage teams, assign tasks, and motivate operatives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills.
  • Basic IT skills for reporting and scheduling purposes.
  • To be local to site
**Desirable:**
  • SSSTS or SMSTS qualification.
  • Manual handling and forklift licenses.
  • Experience with scaffold inspection or CISRS knowledge.
Work Environment:Yard-based, involving outdoor work in varying weather conditions. Use of PPE is mandatory. Physical aspects include manual handling, walking, and supervising active operations.Why Join Us?
