Key off-field appointments have recently been made in business operations, ticketing, and partnerships to continue our efforts in improving the experience for our supporters.Job Purpose
Reporting to the Performance Director, the 1st Team Performance Coach will be a vital member performance and medical team who provides best practice performance services to First Team players at AFC Bournemouth.Main Duties
  • Contribute to the development, delivery, and evaluation of elite football standard performance programs, movement preparation sessions, recovery protocols, and training preparation sessions.
  • Develop and deploy athletic improvement solutions for identified player performance constraints.
  • Identify and correct underlying biomechanical or structural deficiencies that may predispose a player to injury, re-injury, or under performance.
  • Support data management practices to collect and analyse load response and
performance related data while actioning bespoke readiness, recovery, and
enhancement strategies.
  • Use effective player monitoring practices that inform create an individual player profile, guide individual player programming, and support return to play decisions.
  • Monitor
  • Utilize technology solutions to improve player physical profiling, program progressions, and objectively measured physical adaptations.
  • Manage player data securely and ensure all relevant rehabilitation programming and profiling documentation is integrated within the electronic medical records for injured players.
  • Design and delivery early-phase rehabilitation strategies for re-condition injured players.
  • Collaborate with medical and performance team members in the creation and execution of long- term injury rehabilitation programs.
  • Support the individual physical development pathways of 1st Team players who have been identified as requiring specific physical quality developmental needs.
  • As assigned, collaborate with Loan Manager and external performance specialist to identify, and influence ongoing performance development services to be delivered with Loan Players.
  • As directed, support Loan Players with their physical needs, goals, and actions.
  • Perform the physical performance assessments of pre-signing medicals.
  • Provide match day support of home and away games; to include but not limited to pitch-based conditioning and activation sessions, nutritional interventions, and recovery strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Team Nutritionist about player nutrition needs to uphold high performance standards.
  • Support a culture of injury prevention and ensure we are embracing best practices to constantly improve our player availability.
  • Take ownership in your professional growth by continuously improving your technical and social behavioural skillset.
  • Undertake Continued Professional Development organized and approved by the Club.
  • Contribute to departmental professional development in service sessions and share domain specific knowledge with departmental teammates.
  • Maintain an organized, safe, and operable gym environment.
  • Promote an environment that fosters player trust in performance related service delivery.
  • Embody a “one department” spirit with actions and behaviours that promote collaboration and trust between the medical and performance specialist.

  • MSc Sports Science or relevant degree topic, or equivalent experience with a relevant bachelor's degree.
  • Strength and Conditioning accreditation.
  • Experience with gym and pitch-based performance service delivery in elite sports.
  • Technology savvy - ability to autonomously integrate multiple technologies and data management practices to support and document services.
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team and a track record of building trust.
  • Availability to travel.
  • Fluency in English, both oral and written.
