Department: Human ResourcesThe HR Advisor is a credible and proactive member of the HR Team, supporting the HR Business Partner in managing day-to-day HR operations. This role delivers an effective and efficient generalist HR advisory service that aligns with best practice, company objectives, and legal requirements. The HR Advisor plays a key role in implementing HR policies and procedures in line with the overall people and business strategy.Key Responsibilities:Strategic HR Delivery
- Align with the Group People Strategy and support its implementation at site level.
- Collaborate with specialist functions (Talent & Experience, Learning & Development) to deliver site/area plans.
- Drive key HR metrics including turnover, absence, and retention.
- Apply and promote company policies and procedures with a strong understanding of employment law and HR best practices.
- Educate and support managers in consistent policy application.
- Partner with site teams to resolve ER cases promptly.
- Manage and advise on capability, conduct, and grievance cases in line with legal and policy standards.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems.
- Handle personal data professionally, ensuring compliance with data protection and confidentiality standards.
- Support and challenge managers to reduce absence levels.
- Manage sickness absence cases and facilitate return-to-work processes.
- Maintain accurate absence documentation and support delivery of absence KPIs.
- Support SEDEX and customer-specific reporting and compliance.
- Assist in preparing for ethical audits to achieve high scores.
- Manage the Occupational Health diary and coordinate referrals.
- Advise managers on implementing recommendations from health assessments.
- Ensure 100% compliance with training requirements across legal, technical, and H&S disciplines.
- Align site needs with centrally provided training to maximise development opportunities.
- Actively support HSE initiatives including Go For Zero campaigns and compliance awareness.
- Collaborate with operational teams to address staffing gaps.
- Promote apprenticeships and engage with local schools and colleges to build future talent pipelines.
- Partner with hiring managers and Talent Acquisition to ensure effective recruitment.
- Facilitate seamless onboarding processes across People Services, L&D, and hiring managers.
- Champion diversity and inclusion across the site.
- Promote and embed company values at all levels.
- Support effective communication systems and forums (e.g., Works Councils, Engagement Forums).
- Coordinate and support site engagement activities.
- Lead local well-being events and community/charity partnerships.
- Participate in HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Attend HR meetings, conferences, and development activities, including travel to other sites.
- Raise and manage HR tickets in line with SLA requirements.
- Provide professional HR advice to support change initiatives.
- Demonstrate financial awareness in HR decisions and practices.
- Proven experience as an HR Advisor, HR Consultant, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices.
- Experience advising senior staff and working across all levels of the business.
- Hands-on experience with HR systems.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Organised, practical, and solution-oriented.
- Flexible and determined with a proactive attitude.
- CIPD qualification (or working towards).
- HR experience in the manufacturing and/or food industry.
