- Undertaking a wide range of laboratory investigations and scientific procedures using automated, manual and molecular techniques.
- Monitoring workflow, procedures, equipment and storage facilities and taking appropriate action to resolve problems and ensure work is completed within agreed timescales.
- Maintaining accurate documentation and audit trails for all work and storing samples or materials appropriately to facilitate further work or investigation.
- Operating within broad national and professional policies and guidelines. Understanding and working within the scope and practice of the role.
- Analysing, validating, interpreting, recording, transmitting and reporting the results of routine and complex investigations.
- Taking independent responsibility for following standard operating procedures on complex scientific investigations, identifying any deviations in protocol and troubleshooting ability to problem-solve complex methodologies.
- Graduate with relevant science degree and research portfolio.
- Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD)
- Experienced in specialised laboratory techniques using a wide range of complex equipment e.g. cell isolation,DNA extraction, amplification and sequencing, cell culture, flow cytometry and sorting.
- Broad science knowledge with a knowledge of molecular biology and cell biology and an understanding of transfusion/transplantation science.
- Evidence of working to the standards of Good Manufacturing Practice, Good Laboratory Practice and other relevant or statutory guidelines.
- Experience of working with information technology using Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint)
- Experienced in prioritising work and monitoring progress to ensure deadlines are met.
- Proven experience of experimental design and research.
