- Provide and receive highly complex, highly sensitive or highly contentious information, using developed persuasive, motivational or negotiating skills.
- Challenge with confidence established scientific and clinical views using reasoned argument, personal knowledge, research finding and evidence from the literature to continually improve the clinical care of patients
- Participate in and chair meetings within Clinical Chemistry and maintain effective two way communications with all staff members.
- The post holder is expected to establish and maintain networks with professional, clinical and managerial colleagues within this Trust and beyond it, both locally and nationally.
- Develop and maintain links with all users of the service e.g. GPs and community based staff regarding quality and service issues.
- Participate in multidisciplinary clinical teams discussing highly complex information.
- Constant communication with clinical colleagues about investigations required, explaining results and advising on further action.
- To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.

- oAdvanced, in-depth, clinical scientific knowledge to doctorate level or equivalent
- oFellowship of Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath) as required for Medical Consultant posts within Pathology
- oRegistered as a Clinical Scientist with Health Professions Council.
- Demonstration of Continuing Professional Develop-ment by participation in the Royal College of Pathologists' scheme or equivalent.
- Able to conduct clinical audit and present reports
- To have expert knowledge in a highly specialised area.
