This is a senior, board-facing role where your expertise will influence decisions that define how services are designed, governed, and delivered across one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure programmes. You will work across a joint venture environment, ensuring coherence between partner organisations and aligning architecture and strategy to enable a resilient, scalable and customer-focused energy system.As the strategic voice at the table, you will present enterprise architecture vision and service strategies directly to senior leaders and board members, guiding decisions at the highest level. As the guardian of coherence, you will balance the needs of multiple stakeholders, embedding governance and standards that hold across a complex environment. As the architect of transformation, you will shape the target state for future operating and service models that enable innovation, scalability and long-term resilience. Above all, you will act as a trusted advisor to executives and programme teams, bringing clarity and confidence to critical strategic outcomes.This is not just about architecture — it is about leaving a lasting impact on the UK’s transition to net zero and helping to deliver an energy system that will serve generations to come.This contract is offered on an initial 6–12 month basis, with strong potential for extension.As a Senior Enterprise Architect, you will:
  • Lead enterprise-level architecture across a high-profile joint venture, ensuring strategic alignment between partner organisations.
  • Present architectural vision, service models, and transformation roadmaps to board and executive stakeholders.
  • Define and shape service design principles at enterprise level, ensuring services are scalable, resilient, and customer-focused.
  • Drive future-state operating models to support Transmission’s growth and transformation ambitions.
  • Establish architectural governance frameworks and embed best practice across programmes.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to leadership, identifying opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • A proven track record as a senior Enterprise Architect or equivalent, providing leadership across large-scale transformation and change.
  • Experience engaging directly with boards and executive leadership, with the ability to influence complex strategic decisions.
  • Strong expertise in service strategy, business architecture, and enterprise-level design, with the proven ability to define and oversee future-state operating and service models that are scalable, resilient, and aligned to business needs.
  • Confidence navigating multi-party governance environments, ideally with experience in joint ventures or similarly complex structures.
  • Familiarity with recognised architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF, Zachman) and enterprise modelling tools.
  • Exceptional ability to simplify complexity, communicate clearly, and build trusted relationships at the highest level.
