  • Provide targeted support to Year 1 pupils, ensuring they receive the necessary guidance and encouragement to progress in their phonics and reading skills
  • Collaborate with teachers to plan and deliver effective lessons that cater to the diverse needs of the pupils
  • Assist in creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and wellbeing
  • Monitor and assess pupils' progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents
  • Support the school's commitment to safeguarding and adhere to all relevant policies and procedures
To be successful in this role, you should have:
  • Experience working with primary-aged children, preferably in a school setting
  • A strong understanding of phonics and early reading development
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
  • A patient, caring, and empathetic approach to working with children
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the classroom
Qualifications:
  • Hold a relevant qualification in childcare, education, or a related field (NVQ Level 2 or 3, Teaching Assistant diploma)
  • GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent
  • A valid DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
