- Strong leadership skills, be able to listen, direct, advise, challenge, correct, motivate, and praise team members to achieve the performance targets of the business.
- Engage with their teams to effectively communicate the requirements of the business, empowering team members to continuously and proactively improve machining methods and processes.
- Make sure that the SQDCPE boards are up to date at the end of each shift and all holidays are visible and present this information to the team on daily basis and then once a week to management underling the good/Bad things and potentially any issues that have came up.
- Validate the team are booking work off correctly and the route cards are correct, and parts moved to the correct areas.
- Communicate with other team leaders to understand where overtime is needed and if team members need to be flexible and move to different areas. Giving the team clear guidance on what they are expected to do .
- Maintain timing and sequencing of production order operations in line with finite capacity scheduling wherever possible, and to ensure on time delivery to schedule and maximum utilization of resources.
- Ensure Ricardo’s Health & Safety, Environmental, Confidentiality and Quality policies are always adhered to in the Manufacturing area.
- Review all risk assessments associated with their areas in line with Ricardo’s procedures and policies.
- Manage the team members ensuring suitable flexibility to realize the dynamic requirements of the business, providing time and resources for training when and where required.
- Maintain a standardised team information board including all aspects of the SDQCPE board, to proactively communicate and challenge the team members to achieve the performance targets of the business.
- Carry out annual PDR’s with team members, providing support and direction to enable them to realize their maximum potential. Collecting all scrap reports and quality issues and their productivity to have evidence to use in this in their annual performance.
- Ensure all maintenance/machine and service issues are communicated effectively to the Manufacturing Maintenance Manager ensuring overall equipment effectiveness.
- Ensure all setter / operators are suitably dressed in company clothing / PPE and keep their workstations and the immediate areas around the machines, clean, organized, and efficient at all times.
- To ensure the teams timesheets are correct and validate the information that is given on them and making sure all absences are reported in a timely manner.
- Manage the teams/people return to work process and absence review meetings, making sure they are done and up to date with actions if needed.
- We are looking for a “Can Do” approach, not afraid to challenge the norms and lead from the front taking ownership of their respective section and people.
