Meriton Associates Ltd has been exclusively retained by a long-established and highly respected regional main contractor to recruit a commercially driven Senior Estimator to join their expanding team in Christchurch, Dorset.Our client operates across southern England and delivers a wide range of high-quality projects across sectors including industrial, defence, commercial, retail, and education. With a turnover of £50m+ and a strong project pipeline, this is a rare opportunity to join a secure and forward-thinking business at a senior level.🔧 Role OverviewAs Senior Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in the pre-construction team—leading the preparation and submission of competitive, first-principles tenders across a range of sectors. You will work collaboratively with directors, planners, buyers and the commercial team to ensure well-structured, commercially viable bids are submitted.✅ Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the estimating process for civil engineering and general construction projects
  • Review and interpret drawings, specifications, and project scopes
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and bills of quantities
  • Engage and negotiate with supply chain partners
  • Participate in tender adjudications and bid presentations
  • Identify opportunities for value engineering and risk mitigation
  • Support handover to delivery teams following successful tender
📋 What We’re Looking For
  • Significant estimating experience within general building
  • Strong technical and commercial understanding of NEC and JCT forms of contract
  • Skilled in estimating software such as Conquest, Causeway, or similar
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple concurrent tenders
  • A collaborative team player with excellent communication and organisational skills
  • HNC/HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or Construction Management
