We are pleased to offer an opportunity for a self-motivated and dedicated health and safety professional to join our Health and Safety team.As part of this exciting and challenging role, you will be part of an existing and growing team supporting various work operations in a site-based role. We are very pleased to be able to provide some fantastic opportunities for career progression, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to meet and exceed their full potential.Within the Health and Safety team, we pride ourselves on our in-house capabilities, professional approach, and being part of operational construction teams, something we feel is extremely important to us.What you'll doAs a member of the Health and Safety Team, you will act as a role model for health and safety, driving a strong 'speak up' safety culture, and leading and driving for continual improvement.In this role, you will be working as part of the site team, providing guidance and support, ensuring we continually look to identify opportunities for improvement, proactive interventions, and share best practices.Your responsibilities will include:
  • conducting audits and inspections, identifying trends, and ensuring health and safety compliance with legislation and the YTL Construction Health and Safety Management system
  • providing support and guidance to the Site teams, employees, and supply chain partners on all matters relating to health and safety on-site
  • completing the investigation of incidents, accidents, and near-miss events to identify root causation, ensuring appropriate remedial action is taken, and lessons learnt are shared and communicated
  • achieving and monitoring targets and KPIs
  • identifying and monitoring trends and putting forward improvement ideas
  • developing and presenting monthly reports
  • working collaboratively with other members of the Health and Safety team
  • supporting, monitoring, and maintaining the delivery of safe working practices in line with company policy and procedures
  • working closely with the YTL Construction Health and Safety Manager and Site teams, including our contractors.
What you'll needWe are looking for a charismatic and enthusiastic individual who is able to work as part of a professional Health & Safety Team, leading, mentoring, and further developing the workforce to achieve ongoing improvements, whilst continuing to promote a positive health and safety culture and behaviours throughout the organisation.You will have excellent communication skills and will be confident liaising with colleagues across all levels of the organisation. You need to be approachable and, overall, a great team player.In addition, we are looking for:
  • educated to a health and safety standard (NEBOSH General, Construction Certificate or similar)
  • health and safety experience gained within a civil engineering and construction work environment (preferable)
  • previous experience of working within a team environment
  • experience in developing systems to support cultural development
  • the ability to undertake statistical analysis, develop trends, and recommend improvement strategies
  • hazard identification and risk mitigation processes
  • first-hand knowledge of ISO45001 management systems (preferable)
  • the ability to understand complex tasks and challenge decision-making and working methods in a constructive manner
  • a comprehensive understanding of current health and safety legislation
  • the ability to work with management to produce and present informative and accurate reports
  • the ability to review and further develop safe systems of work.
Due to the remote nature of the role, the successful candidate will need to hold a full clean UK driving licence.What you'll receive
