- Experience of clinical governance activities including audit and risk management within maternity services
- Experience in Quality Improvement
- Experience of leading and implementing change
- Able to demonstrate awareness of current changes in midwifery education and practice
- Demonstrated understanding of the role of the Consultant Midwife
- Demonstrates understanding the needs of women in a multicultural environment
- Evidence of working with external partners/ organisations to influence practice at a strategic level
- Advanced clinical skills and practice in DAU/Triage and intapratum settings
- Working as a consultant midwife for 1 year Writing and presenting reports
- The ability to work autonomously using own initiative and to innovate
- Demonstrable project management skills
- Able to work as part of a team, working across professional boundaries at all levels of the site and organisation
- Able to present complex issues clearly and concisely at all levels including divisional and service level
- Good organisational skills; able to work effectively under pressure and successfully towards identified deadlines
- Evidence of good presentation skills in a range training materials and reports
- Excellent communication skills and potential to develop influencing skills.
- Good interpersonal and team building skills
- Good IT skills including use of Cerner,
- Microsoft word, excel and power point
- Able to manage the maternity unit and make appropriate decisions regarding
- Desire to develop personal and professional knowledge and skills
- Evidence of publications and conference presentations
- Knowledge of staff management processes
- Knowledge of key NHS service strategy, planning and delivery processes as these relate to local services
- Knowledge of current national publications and research and their relation to local needs and practice
- Comprehensive understanding of midwifery practice
- Registered Nurse/Midwife with current NMC registration
- BSc/ BA degree
- Masters level qualification or evidence of working successfully at Masters level
- Evidence of on-going, relevant postgraduate qualification
- Mentorship/ Assessor qualification
- Leadership courses/ qualification
- Teaching qualification
- Project management qualification
