Are you now looking to transfer your invaluable experience into a rewarding role within the education sector?Primary schools across Birmingham and Solihull are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate Support Workers to join their teams as SEN Teaching Assistants. This is an exciting opportunity to bring your skills and empathy into the classroom and positively impact the lives of young children who require additional support.About the RoleThis role involves working in mainstream primary school settings that provide tailored support for pupils with a diverse range of special educational needs, particularly Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), social communication difficulties, and behavioural challenges.You will work alongside teachers and SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators) to:
- Deliver targeted 1:1 or small group support to pupils with additional needs
- Support classroom engagement and facilitate inclusive learning experiences
- Implement behaviour management strategies, including the de-escalation of challenging situations
- Foster emotional regulation and independence in pupils through consistent support
- Communicate with staff, parents, and external professionals to ensure consistent care and development
- Proven experience supporting individuals with special educational needs (in either adult or child settings)
- A background in the Care, Residential, or Social Work sectors
- Training or experience in positive behaviour support, non-verbal communication, or managing challenging behaviour
- Experience with children or adults with Autism, ADHD, sensory processing difficulties, or learning disabilities
- The ability to remain calm, patient, and resourceful in high-pressure or emotionally demanding situations
- A nurturing, professional attitude with a strong desire to support the holistic development of children

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
