In so doing we provide a bridge to translational medicine, and interface between physical and life sciences. We are committed not only to innovative research and the highest standard of teaching, but also to creating an inclusive and supportive working environment.Overview of the role:We are seeking a Research Assistant to join our team on a translational project investigating lysosomal dysfunction in Parkinson's disease. The ideal candidate will have experience with iPSC cultures, a background in cellular neuroscience or molecular cell biology, and a meticulous approach to lab work and data handling. You will help develop biomarkers, test therapeutic compounds, and contribute to assay development using iPSC-derived dopamine neurons from Parkinson's patients. This post is available immediately until 30 June 2026.Funded by the Michael J Fox Foundation and in collaboration with EndLyz (Dementia Discovery Fund portfolio), this project offers a unique opportunity to work across academic and pharmaceutical research.Key responsibilities:
  • Laboratory experiments and data interpretation
  • Imaging analysis and assay read-outs

Selection criteria:
  • BSc/MSc in a relevant area of research (or near completion)
  • iPSC culture experience
  • Neurodegenerative disease model knowledge
  • Problem-solving and innovation skills
  • Attention to detail and record keeping
  • Understanding of neuronal phenotypes
