Brain Injury Support Worker, Ilford, IG3. A full-time position available for a Brain Injury Support Worker to assist an active young man with a TBI to live independently. 12-to-24-hour shifts. Up to £19.00 Gross per Hour
  • Nearest Station: Barking | Upney | Becontree Underground Station
  • Salary/Wage: £17.00 Weekdays | £19.00 Weekends | £12.21 sleeping rate / £165.68 per sleeping shift. All figures quoted in gross
  • Driving Requirements: Preferable
  • Essential: Brain Injury experience and working within a home environment. Travel on holidays and short breaks in the UK and abroad. This is a non-smoking / vaping work environment.
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Days & Hours: 38 hours on average per week. Shift times: 8.00am – 8.00pm | 8.00pm – 8.00am (sleeping shift 10.00pm – 6.00am). Shorter shifts for 2:1 care depending on activities throughout the day

| Suhada suhada@snapcare.co.ukAbout the Client: Axel (early 30’s), is a remarkable young man, achieving goals professional did not believe would be possible; he is extremely determined, focused and works incredible hard on his rehabilitation. In his early 20’s Axel sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and now he is living independently with the assistance of his support team in Ilford. As a result of his TBI, Axel has complex care needs including cognitive and mobility impairment and epilepsy (although he has not had a seizure for 12 months), and he is doubly incontinent. He requires 1:1 assistance 24/7 and 2:1 support when out and about, as he can find it difficult at times to control his impulsiveness. When at home Axel uses a gutter frame and has recently started walking short distance unaided. He uses his wheelchair when he is out in the community.The Role at a Glance: Axel leads a busy life, most days he has planned activities such as cycling at the velodrome, attending Headway charity, gym sessions, going to the cinema, eating out and trying new restaurants, and of course the typical life admin duties such as shopping etc. His Brain Injury Support Worker will assist Axel with all his ADLs, rehabilitation programme and support him to lead an independent life. Axel enjoys going away on holidays and short breaks in the UK and abroad and you will be required to support him on these adventures. You will work alongside another team member supporting Axel with his planned activities. This role involves night care; however, Axel tends to sleep very well and generally only requires one check-in each night. The rota is provided 4 weeks in advance and will include a mixture of days, nights and weekends.This Job Would Suit: An experienced Brain Injury Support Worker with excellent knowledge of TBI and experience working within a home setting. You will share similar interests with Axel and bring new ideas and activities he can enjoy and participate in.
