- Assist in managing a portfolio of R&D clients and their claims, including client relationship and workflow management
- Client liaison on technical R&D claim matters
- Conduct technical client interviews
- Prepare and review tax relief claims, including technical case study reports and claim calculations
- Ensure procedures are followed taking account of institute and HMRC guidance, where relevant
- Liaison with managers and directors
- Appraisals/monitor staff performance
- On the job training/mentoring for junior staff on a one-to-one basis, including technical and procedural matters
- Dealing with staff questions
- On the job training
- Reading; internal meetings; internal and external seminars and courses
- Awareness/interest in what other parts of the firm can do, to encourage cross-referrals
- Chartered tax advisor (CTA) and/or accountant (ACA/ACCA/CA), or international equivalent OR Formal university/ professional qualification in a field of natural science/ technology (eg engineering, software development)
- Previous experience in tax within incentives and reliefs
- Proficiency in English and Mathematics
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral
- Problem solving - positive attitude to solving problems and deliver outcomes
- Demonstrable experience of managing people
- Strong IT skills, including Excel proficiency
