We are defined by our purpose—to help navigate challenges, unlock potential, and achieve the extraordinary.Job DescriptionWe're seeking a talented individual to join our Incentives and Reliefs team in either our Birmingham office.You will be responsible for assisting the managers and directors in managing a portfolio of clients and completing claims for Research and Development tax relief, patent box relief, and various creative industry reliefs. This will include leading client meetings/ calls to discuss technical R&D projects, completing and reviewing project case study documents and claim calculations, and client liaison throughout each claim process.Client work
  • Assist in managing a portfolio of R&D clients and their claims, including client relationship and workflow management
  • Client liaison on technical R&D claim matters
  • Conduct technical client interviews
  • Prepare and review tax relief claims, including technical case study reports and claim calculations
  • Ensure procedures are followed taking account of institute and HMRC guidance, where relevant
Staff Management and Development
  • Liaison with managers and directors
  • Appraisals/monitor staff performance
  • On the job training/mentoring for junior staff on a one-to-one basis, including technical and procedural matters
  • Dealing with staff questions
Personal Development (Technical & Other)
  • On the job training
  • Reading; internal meetings; internal and external seminars and courses
  • Awareness/interest in what other parts of the firm can do, to encourage cross-referrals
QualificationsExperience and skills
  • Chartered tax advisor (CTA) and/or accountant (ACA/ACCA/CA), or international equivalent OR Formal university/ professional qualification in a field of natural science/ technology (eg engineering, software development)
  • Previous experience in tax within incentives and reliefs
  • Proficiency in English and Mathematics
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Problem solving - positive attitude to solving problems and deliver outcomes
  • Demonstrable experience of managing people
  • Strong IT skills, including Excel proficiency
