Our client is looking for a Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant to join their team, based in Manchester. The role offers the opportunity for an ambitious person to lead the delivery of flood risk and drainage feasibility assessments for key clients in the housing developer sector in the UK. Working predominantly in the Manchester office whilst also supporting teams in Scotland where appropriate to promote the growth of the company's flood risk services.The successful candidate is likely to have 5+ years' experience, and the ability to deliver full range of flood risk / drainage design services to predominantly private sector clients. They have operated independently for over 30 years, now with approximately 60 professional and support staff, including 7 Directors. We have a very welcoming team in Manchester with a supportive and flexible office environment.Roles & Responsibilities
The role requires a confident and experienced consultant that can take lead responsibility for day-today running of projects, supporting clients and delivering positive outcomes. They will have a central role in the Manchester team - collaborating with staff at all levels, and leading communications with our clients.Roles and responsibility will include:·Production of Flood Risk Assessments for a range of residential and commercial clients
·Appraisal and design of drainage feasibility layouts
·Liaison and negotiations with Environment Agency / LLFA / water authorities
·Supporting projects in Scotland offices with view to growing flood risk services
·Client and stakeholder liaison across all projects, including in-person and virtual meetings
·Supporting junior members of staff and effectively delegating tasks as appropriate
·Maintaining a sound understanding of evolving policy and legislative environment.The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities and attributes:·Bachelors (or Masters) Level Degree in relevant field. Ideally working towards chartered status
·Consultancy experience working in the UK development sector
·5+ years of experience in similar role
·Excellent written and oral communication skills - capable of producing high-quality clear reporting
·Strong inter-personal skills and the ability to be confident and pro-active in liaising with clients, local authorities, and wider stakeholders
·Strong attention to detail and the ability to independently manage time and resource across multiple projects and clients.
·An enthusiastic approach to professional work and a 'can-do' attitude.
·Good understanding of latest sewerage sector guidance and flooding legislation
·Experience at designing SuDS to latest guidance
·Proficient with the use of hydraulic drainage design software (Microdrainage / Causeway Flow) and AutoCad
·Some experience of 1D / 2D watercourse modelling software preferable but not essential (Flood Modeller or Estry / TUFLOW or HEC RAS)
