- Receive Special Nuclear Material packages from existing storage locations.
- Retreat and/or repackage SNM into 100-year storage packages.
- Transfer these new packages to the Product & Residue Store for secure storage until 2120.
- Ensure SNM safety and security into the next century and beyond.
- The project is currently in the execution phase (procurement, design, manufacture, testing, installation, commissioning). The role supports design activities, completes outstanding design scope, and oversees formal design change implementation.
- Deliver engineering design deliverables (specifications, drawings, analyses, verifications, assessments) meeting legal, functional, and performance requirements on time, within cost and quality targets.
- Provide safe, fit-for-purpose, fully integrated, and operable design solutions aligned with product requirements.
- Ensure design deliverables enable validation, verification, preserve design intent, and maintain plant configuration integrity.
- Facilitate design solutions that can be manufactured, constructed, commissioned, handed over, operated, maintained, and decommissioned.
- Proficient in Autodesk Inventor.
- Experience with Autodesk Vault Basic or Vault Pro (file management).
- Familiarity with GPS ISO (BS 8888).
- Ability to support resolution of manufacturing, inspection, and test technical queries, production permits, and concessions (SME support available for materials, welding, NDT, and design for manufacture).
- Experience managing and directing designers in producing mechanical plant and equipment drawings/documents.
- Knowledge of plant layout, installation, alignment of plant/equipment/machinery for works tests, integrated tests, and site installation.
- Experience in writing and reviewing works test requirement documentation and integrated works test documents for plant and equipment.
- Coordination with CE&I engineers to address multi-disciplinary interactions.
- Ability to work in office-based or blended working arrangements (typically 3 days office/2 days WFH), with occasional supplier site visits.
- Familiarity with safety cases.
- Awareness of engineering standards and specifications.
- Experience in checking manufacturing drawings.
- Knowledge of information retrieval from document management systems.
- Experience designing in a nuclear environment.
- Experience in design and integration of machines per applicable safety management systems.
- Understanding of CDM, SoMSR, PUWER, and LOLER regulations.
