- Significant experience in recognised Paediatric SHO training post and must have appropriate neonate experience at SHO level
- Outpatient experience of at least 20 (post registration) paediatric clinics
- Able to work without direct supervision where appropriate, according to level or experience
- Sound manual dexterity and competent in routine practical procedures as expected for experience
- Clear Logical thinking/shown an analytical/scientific approach. Understanding of evidence informed practice
- Ability to organize oneself, to manage time and task and prioritise clinical need within limitations of experience

- Familiar with current structure of health service and knowledgeable about recent initiatives and changes
- Some understanding of clinical risk management Appreciation of clinical governance issues
- Through understanding of principles of medical audit
- Evidence of participation in audit project
- Effective communicator: able to work in a team and co-operate with medical and paramedical staff
- Sound note keeping
- Excellent written and spoken English Language skills
- Flexible, able to cover colleagues' absences
- Able to change and adapt, respond to rapidly changing circumstances
- Familiarity with information technology and general computer skills
