This opportunity offers invaluable experience for those exploring a future in Educational Psychology or related fields, such as Speech and Language Therapy or Mental Health Support.Psychology Graduate – Aspiring Educational Psychologist Reading – Education and Training - Psychology Graduate – Aspiring Educational Psychologist ReadingLSA - The Role: What to ExpectYou will be supporting children and young people aged 4–16 with Autism and associated neurodivergent needs in a structured and therapeutic school environment. Key responsibilities include:
- Working closely with pupils across the autism spectrum, from those with high-functioning needs to those requiring more complex support.
- Supporting individuals with co-occurring neurodevelopmental conditions such as ADHD, sensory processing difficulties, OCD, and social communication challenges.
- Encouraging emotional regulation and academic engagement using evidence-informed approaches.
- Collaborating with in-house therapists and SEN specialists, including Speech & Language, Occupational, Art, Music, and Drama Therapists.
- Observing therapeutic interventions and gaining insight into multi-disciplinary educational support practices.
- Applying practical strategies derived from educational and behavioural psychology.
- Supporting personal care routines, where necessary, to ensure holistic care.
- Hold a degree in Psychology (or a closely related discipline).
- Have a sincere interest in pursuing a career in Educational Psychology or related mental health/education fields.
- Are compassionate, patient, and naturally curious about how children learn and develop.
- Are reflective and resilient, able to manage the emotional and practical challenges of working in a SEN setting.
- Can commit to the full academic year, providing consistency and building meaningful relationships with pupils and staff.
- Experience the direct application of psychological theory in a real-world, educational context.
- Gain exposure to specialist interventions, behaviour support strategies, and multi-agency collaboration.
- Develop a portfolio of practical experience to strengthen applications for Educational Psychology MSc or Doctorate programmes.
- Build confidence in working with neurodiverse children and young people.
- Progression opportunities available based on performance and school fit.
