We are seeking an experienced Air Conditioning/Chiller Engineer to join the maintenance team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich, London. This role involves first response to chiller faults, servicing, and fault finding on air conditioning systems including split systems and VRV/VRF technology. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 7 years' experience in air conditioning and refrigeration engineering, with strong technical knowledge and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment. This position offers a temp to permanent opportunity, providing stability and career progression within a critical infrastructure setting.Responsibilities
Provide first response to chiller faults and breakdowns
Carry out servicing, maintenance, and fault finding on air conditioning systems including split systems and VRV/VRF
Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with health and safety regulations
Maintain accurate service records and documentation
Collaborate with site management and other engineering teams to ensure optimal system performance
Participate in training and development activities as required
Skills
F Gas Category 1 certification (essential)
Extensive knowledge of split system and VRV/VRF air conditioning systems
Proven experience in first response to chiller faults
Strong fault finding and servicing skills in air conditioning systems
Minimum 7 years' relevant experience in air conditioning and refrigeration engineering
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Good communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong commitment to health and safety compliance
Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
Flexible and proactive approach to problem solving
Certifications & Standards
F Gas Category 1 (mandatory)
Relevant health and safety certifications (e.g. CSCS, IOSH) desirableSoftware/Tools
Familiarity with CAFM systems or maintenance management software (advantageous)
