Fantastic route for an aspiring Psychologist, Therapist or for someone looking to work in the Criminal Justice systemA small specialist school for children aged 11 to 16 in Basingstoke are looking for a Teaching Assistant to support the social skills, emotional well being and mental health of the students within their school. The school provide an alternative education for children who have social & emotional difficulties such as anxiety and school refusal due to developmental trauma and adverse childhood experiences, as well as specific learning difficulties such as aspergers and autism. The Teaching Assistant/Mental Health Support Assistant will be working closely with trained professionals including Psychologists and Therapists and will have the opportunity to shadow their work.

Your role as a Mental Health Support Assistant is to give them an education that is tailored to their individual needs, enabling and empowering them to understand that 'great minds think differently', to gain confidence in themselves and progress their learning.They are a progressive, compassionate, values-based school with a strong ethos and a highly skilled team who are passionate about what they do. Your priority as a Teaching Assistant/Mental Health Support Assistant will be the children's social, emotional and mental health development.You will ideally will have a degree in a related field or experience working with young people.
