Job Title: Senior Quality EngineerLocation: Whetstone, Leicestershire + Hybrid Working ArrangementsCompensation: Competitive Salary + BenefitsRole Type: Full time / PermanentRole ID: SF66917At Babcock we're working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Senior Quality Engineer at our Whetstone site.The RoleAs a Senior Quality Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary as you'll provide support and apply quality strategy to support the project management team / project deliverables.Day-to-day, you'll provide advice, guidance and support to the business on all matters related to quality, ensuring outputs meet customer and regulatory requirements in a timely manner.
  • Represent the customer's interests and help to maintain the open and collaborative relationship we have.
  • Provide quality input and advice through the project lifecycle.
  • Identify quality risk and work to mitigate, manage and escalate issues to programme leadership.
  • Manage non-conformance process, driving root cause analysis and prevention where appropriate.
  • Oversee progress and sign-off the delivery process to give the customer assurance their requirements have been met.
  • Collect, analyse and report on quality performance data.
  • Quality planning in Production and Supply Chain to drive 'right first time' performance.
  • Lead investigations into quality escapes, managing through to preventative action using suitable tools and techniques.
  • Provide Quality expertise into future business opportunities (bids and proposals).
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days onsite and 3 days working from home.Agile working may be available to employees in some instances, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met. We are happy to consider flexible, blended working, including part-time, condensed hours, and job sharing. Please ask about alternative patterns of work at interview.Essential Experience of the Senior Quality Engineer
  • A proficient quality assurance engineer with experience in a related industry and be familiar with how quality applies throughout a product or service delivery lifecycle.
  • Previous customer-facing role or experience is beneficial.
  • Experience of implementing quality improvements and encouraging culture change within a team or organisation.
  • Experience of auditing quality ISO9001 management systems.
  • An excellent working knowledge of quality tools and problem-solving techniques, and be able to provide guidance to others in their use (e.g. Pareto, FMEA, 5 why's, 8D, etc.)
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement tools and able to give examples of how you have used them in previous situations.
Qualifications for the Senior Quality Engineer
  • ONC, HNC or NVQ Level 3 qualification in a quality, science, engineering discipline are desirable.
  • Membership of a recognised quality institute e.g. CQI is desirable.
  • ISO 9001 auditor preferable but training can be provided.
