We are seeking a compassionate and resilient Special Needs Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive SEN school in Weston-super-Mare. Location: Weston-super-Mare (BS23) North Somerset
Salary: £90 - £100 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time or Part-Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2025Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to children with special educational needs (SEN)
  • Assist teachers and the SENCO in developing and delivering tailored learning plans
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies in line with school policies
  • Support with personal care and physical needs where required
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting concerns to appropriate staff
  • Encourage social, emotional, and academic growth through positive relationships
  • Help children stay engaged and motivated in lessons
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children with SEN or challenging behaviour
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade C / 4 or above) or equivalent
  • Relevant qualifications in education, SEN, or childcare (e.g. NVQ, CACHE) are advantageous
