Job Description:Senior EcologistWest Midlands (Hybrid)Permanent, full-timeCompetitive salary + Car allowance + Company benefitsWe have an exciting opportunity as a Senior Ecologist to join a growing team at Adler & Allan. You will provide consultancy to new and existing clients and provision of ecological services to the Adler & Allan group. Providing consultancy expertise for the disciplines of protected species and terrestrial ecology.More about the role:
  • Delivery of protected species surveys, habitat surveys and preliminary ecological appraisals (PEAs) with associated reports, including mapping, while co-ordinating and undertaking ecological clerk of works (ECoW)
  • Reacting and responding to environmental incidents, completing the fieldwork necessary to enable a professional ecological impact assessment to be completed with report writing
  • Providing advice to the wider Group and clients on potential ecological impacts on emergency and / or planned works and specialist input within multi-disciplinary teams
  • Input to the delivery of Water & Ecology reports, including writing and review, monitoring strategies and protocols
  • Mentoring staff, supporting their development of fieldwork techniques, including identification in relevant disciplines, analytical and written skills. Potential for line management responsibilities
  • Supporting team performance by sharing knowledge and best practices at all levels and assist with marketing, quotations, tender writing and business development
  • Project managing own workload to ensure a successful and profitable delivery
  • Supporting the wider Water & Ecology team with general project delivery
About you:
  • Experience in ecological consultancy, with a particular emphasis on protected species with the terrestrial discipline is essential
  • Must obtain a minimum of 1 protected species licence
  • A thorough understanding and experience of the industry standard survey techniques
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and GIS, and wider experience of scheduling / programming using specialist computer programmes would be an advantage
  • Full UK driving license is essential, due to travel between sites
  • Willingness to travel and stay overnight away from home when required
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain relationships at all levels
