- In line with the three lines of defence principle and the procedures described in the BFL risk management framework document, provide oversight of risk; including:
- Support BFL’s risk culture by facilitating regular risk assessments and implementing and maintaining a robust control environment that is owned and documented by the business
- Support the annual review of BFL’s risk appetite levels
- Provide critical appraisal of the control environment impacting BFL (including risk MI) proposed by the business with reference to the agreed risk appetite and provide recommendations to business units and senior management, ensuring that it is sufficiently granular to allow appropriate risk management reporting
- Maintain the data integrity of the BFL risk register
- Work with the business to capture new risks relevant to BFL (including emerging risks)
- Arrange meetings with BFL risk owners and other key individuals with responsibility within the risk management framework and facilitate the quarterly risk and control assessment process.
- Prepare risk management reports reviews by senior team members for BFL committees and boards.
- Prepare risk management material for internal (e.g., lunch and learns, inductions with new stakeholders, etc.) and external presentations (e.g., Lloyd’s and the PRA).
- Provide risk management induction training to relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure close collaboration with other risk team members, sharing their workload as appropriate
- Ensure clear and regular communication with internal audit (the third line of defence) related to ongoing audits and results of their work.
- Participate in project work as required.
- Build and maintain a network of external contacts, including at BFL’s regulators.
- Keep abreast of market best practice and regulatory requirements.
- Comply with Beazley procedures, policies and regulations including the code of conduct
- Undertake training on Beazley policies and procedures as delivered by your line manager, the Culture & People or assurance teams (compliance, risk, internal audit) either directly, via e-learning or the learning management system
- Display business ethics that uphold the interests of all our customers
- Ensure all interactions with customers are focused on delivering a fair outcome, including having the right products for their needs
- Comply with any specific responsibilities necessary for your role as outlined by your line manager, the Culture & People or assurance teams (compliance, risk, internal audit) and ensure you keep up to date with developments in these areas. This may include, amongst others, Beazley’s underwriting control standards, Beazley’s claims control standards, other Beazley standards and customer relationship management
- Carry out additional responsibilities as individually notified, either through your objectives or through the learning management system. These may include membership of any Beazley committees or working groups
- University degree

- Experience working in Risk Management within the Lloyd’s Market
- A good understanding of the processes associated with an international insurance group, both from an operational and risk perspective.
