Job Title: HGV Mechanic (Day Shift)
Location: Bedford
Salary: £46,000 per annum
Position Overview: We are looking for a skilled HGV Mechanic to join our team on the day shift in Bedford. This full-time position offers a competitive salary of £46,000 and is perfect for a dedicated mechanic with experience in heavy goods vehicles who is committed to ensuring high-quality standards in maintenance and repair. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining our fleet’s performance and reliability through proactive maintenance and effective repairs.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnostics and Repair:
Perform diagnostics and repairs on HGVs, handling a range of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems with precision. * Preventative Maintenance:Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to reduce vehicle downtime and ensure fleet readiness. * Compliance and Safety Inspections:Carry out thorough safety inspections to ensure all vehicles comply with industry regulations and company standards. * Documentation and Record-Keeping:Maintain accurate records of all repairs, services, and inspections in accordance with company policies and DVSA requirements. * Parts Management:Identify and replace worn or faulty parts as needed, ensuring availability of critical components to maintain efficient workflow. Qualifications and Skills:
  • Experience:
Previous experience as an HGV Mechanic or in a similar role, with a solid understanding of HGV systems and repair techniques. * Certification:NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or an equivalent qualification is preferred. * Technical Skills:Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, with a strong aptitude for mechanical repairs and health & safety best practices. * Team Player:Ability to work effectively within a team during the day shift and contribute to a positive and safe work environment.
