- Lead the SMO across its three focus areas: Strategic oversight, Execution, and Analytics, ensuring alignment and optimization of efforts for the RTLT.
- Drive strategic priorities for RTech, enabling the RTLT to make informed decisions based on actionable insights and scenario planning.
- Establish oversight of both delivery and impact of key RTech strategic projects for RTLT
- Create, monitor, and update the integrated project plans covering RTech Tech Builds (including Willow), to accurately forecast the schedule, key milestones, and resource demands (FTE and EPE).
- Work effectively with other project managers to fully integrate the RTech Plan to provide alignment and coordinated execution and delivery of the overall RTech program
- Develop and deploy innovative approaches using AI/ML tools to create visually appealing and digestible data insights, enabling the RTLT to make quicker, faster, and more informed decisions.
- Produce clear plan visuals to support decision-making and governance, focusing on the presentation of data in ways that drive understanding and action.
- Maintain a forward-thinking attitude to identify and implement new technologies that enhance data-driven decision-making and operational efficiencies.
- Ensure alignment with broader organizational reporting requests, transitioning from an ad hoc/reactive approach to a proactive/controlled methodology. Lead the creation of standardized, reliable, and strategically focused reporting processes that facilitate operational consistency and forward planning.
- Influence the direction of project development utilizing data, scenario planning, and critical path analysis to aid decision-making. Proactively identify issues (e.g., resource gaps) and opportunities in the plan.
- Facilitate delivery by project management matrix teams by accurately and appropriately identifying, monitoring, and controlling projects
- Act as a coach and mentor to the project management matrix team to enable efficient, timely, and cost-effective delivery of project milestones through effective planning.
- Develop guidance documents and standard tools for plan management, team management, and resource management to drive continuous improvement across the project management community.
- Foster a culture of innovation and forward thinking within the SMO and broader RTech teams.
- Proven project management experience within a complex matrix-driven early discovery research environment, demonstrating expertise in navigating dynamic organizational structures and processes.
- Previous experience managing multiple stakeholders across functions and regions with a consultancy-style approach focused on understanding and delivering value to key customers
- Extensive experience in project design, planning, governance, phasing, implementation, risk/issues management, and reporting, showcasing a comprehensive understanding of end-to-end project lifecycles.
- Experience across multiple pharmaceutical companies
- Demonstrated expertise in transformation office-style initiatives, reflecting proficiency in managing and supporting organizational change
- Experience in a large matrixed multinational organization
- Solid knowledge of enterprise-wide processes in big pharma, complemented by a proactive approach to learning and integrating best practices from outside R&D functions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with well-developed soft skills essential for building relationships, fostering collaboration, and driving successful outcomes
- Project Management qualification (e.g., Prince 2 / PMP) desirable but not essential (support for achieving PM qualification within 12 months if not already held)
- Project experience in design, planning, governance, phasing, implementation, issues/risk management, and reporting
- Proficient understanding of laboratory experience with a deep understanding of current Research Technologies priorities and operational needs.
