The Quarter Jack Surgery is a research practice within the Research Delivery Network Southwest Central team and soon to be member of the Dorset Primary Care Clinical Research Group. We have an exciting role to become the second experienced nurse in our research team to help continue our current research commitments and to drive growth and expand our non commercial research capabilities.This permanent part time role has scope for growth and will suit a candidate who has experience and demonstrable interest in research. We will be looking for someone who has knowledge of Good Clinical Practice and can implement the principles of Good Clinical Practice. We would be looking for a candidate with skills to conduct studies in a safe environment for our participants following protocols. You will be expected to work with our existing research nurse and take charge of clinics under the supervision of our GP Research lead and provide knowledge and supervision to other team members. As well as using your clinical skills you will be expected to collect data, liaise with research data teams to have this data entered in an accurate and timely manner and help answer queries raised by our or the research organisers team.You will be supported by our GP Research Lead and Research Nurse, and have access to support from the regional Research Delivery Network. Training needs will be identified at the start of post and will be reviewed continually.Main duties of the jobThis research nurse role combines clinical expertise with the coordination and management of research studies. The candidate will act as a central point of contact between patients, investigators, and regulatory authorities, ensuring all research is delivered safely, ethically, and to the highest standards in alliance with Good Clinical Practice guidelines.Clinical ResponsibilitiesAssessing, screening, and recruiting suitable patients, participants for research studiesproviding ongoing review of clinical trial participants and the delivery of clinical investigations and treatments, as defined by the clinical trial protocol.Obtaining informed consent where appropriate, ensuring participants understand the study, risks, and rights.Performing clinical procedures such as blood sampling, administering study medications, monitoring vital signs, and managing and recording side effects.Manages the patient schedule to ensure all observations, interventions and procedures are carried out in accordance with the trial protocolActing as a patient advocate, ensuring safety and wellbeing throughout the study.Ensuring compliance with ethical approvals, research governance, and legal requirements.Upholding confidentiality and data protection standards.About usThe Quarter Jack Surgery is a partnership of 8 GP partners across two sites in Wimborne, Dorset. We have 11 GPs and a very supportive team of 5 x Nurse Practitioners, 7 x Practice Nurses including a Research Nurse, 2 x Health Care Assistants, 2 x Phlebotomists, and administrative staff.
